Price calculation in Microsoft Dynamics CRM

Here I will give an overview of how price calculation in Microsoft Dynamics CRM works. This covers the product catalog with pricelists etcetera, but also the end-user experience for this (opportunities, quotes, salesorders).
I've searched a lot on the web, but couldn't find any good resources about this (and it's not all that self-explaining...)
